What to expect during an

   Acupuncture therapy

Step 1, we will go over the confidential intake and evaluation. I will ask question to get more details about what is going on. Then using diagnostic tools like tongue and pulse readings, I will be able to find the proper protocol for your condition. We will then go over the findings and all your concerns about receiving Acupuncture.

In the 2nd step, you get to relax on a very comfortable treatment table especially designed for Acupuncture. Using extremely fine flexible sterile needles that are inserted into the specific points on your body that correlates to your aliment. These encourage a healing response. The mapping for the needle placement has been around for thousands of years. Acupuncture involves very minimal discomfort. The vast majority of my clients don't even feel the needles as they are inserted. This is possible because professional technique and the diameter of the needles being extremely small. The duration in time that the needles will stay in place will vary according to the specific situation, but usually they are left in place 30-45min.

I believe in treating the whole person, not just one tool like Acupuncture. I may add other great modalities like cupping, gua sha, tui na (medical massage), electro-stimulation and Asian Herbal Medicine. Almost without exception, my clients report a profound relaxation after each session.

How quickly does it work? How many treatments do I need?

Short answer — it varies a lot.

Slightly longer answer –

Many people feel very relaxed right after acupuncture and then experience a noticeable improvement in symptoms around 4 – 24 hours after treatment.

In the beginning, the improvement may last from a few days to a week or so. Each treatment adds to the cumulative healing effect. What we are always looking for a reduction in the frequency, intensity, and duration of symptoms.
